Summersdale shortlisted for two British Book Awards
We’re thrilled to announce that Summersdale has been shortlisted in two categories for the British Book Awards. The winners will receive their awards at a ceremony in London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on 8th May 2017.
Independent Publisher of the Year
Our company was shortlisted for the Independent Publisher of the Year category, following
its best ever year, combining its gift publishing with topical non-fiction to good effect. Like many independents, it punches way above its weight in publicity and has been particularly adept at carving out sales in non-traditional retail channels.
Rights Professional of the Year
Our Rights and Digital Sales Manager, Amy Hunter, was shortlisted for this award. Amy
single-handedly increased Summersdale’s rights income by more than a third last year, with North America, Germany and China among her big territories. She has set up licensing in gift and audio markets as well as traditional print deals.
We’re very proud of all Amy’s achievements, ranging from books in every language we can think of, to novelty items such as board game beermats and even 52 Things to Do on the Loo loo roll!
We wish all the shortlisted publishers, booksellers and other members of the book industry the very best, and we look forward to raising a glass with you on 8th May!
