Who are we and what we do
Summersdale is a vibrant, award-winning publisher that provides entertaining, informative and innovative content in the genres of general non-fiction, health and well-being, and gift and humour. We produce a diverse range of over 130 titles per year, with a backlist of over 800 titles.
What you will be doing
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is really looking to make their mark in this rich and varied role. Reporting to the Publishing Director, you will be project managing allocated titles: seeing each title through a full series of stages, and assisting in all aspects of administration of the publishing programme. You will be actively contributing to ideas generation, creative direction and IP development, and will also be regularly liaising with contacts within the business, as well as external parties such as authors, agents and the media.
Who we are looking for
You will need to be highly organised, have a really strong eye for design and creative flair, and be flexible to the ever-changing demands of the fast-paced business. You will also need to display a genuine interest and commitment to a career in publishing.
Candidates will also need to demonstrate that they have:
- A hands-on approach and willing to get stuck-in!
- First class writing skills and an excellent eye for detail
- Commercial awareness
Hachette and Summersdale employ people on the basis of their abilities. We aim to attract and develop talent from a base as broad as the world of readers we want to reach, with a wide and representative range of age, faith, disability, race, gender, sexuality and socio-economic, regional and cultural backgrounds.
The salary band for this role is between £21.5K and £24.5K, with a benefits scheme and flexible working options. You’ll be based in our Chichester office and the role reports to the Publishing Director.
